October saw Ad-Aware reach another milestone in its history with the launch of Ad-Aware in Swedish!

It has long confused people that a company based in Sweden has a flagship product which doesn’t speak the company’s native tongue, but the truth be known, many in the Lavasoft family do not speak Swedish either! As a truly global company, we have around 15 nationalities represented in our headquarters, based in Gothenburg, so English has always been the company language.

A number of major news sites, right here in our very own Sweden, have been knocked offline in what’s believed to be a ‘malicious distributed denial-of-service’, or DDoS, attack.

A new wave of scam e-mails are now hitting victims around the globe. They usually appear to come from trusted friends and look like this:

Since its public release on October 22, there’s been quite a bit of talk on Windows 7, and whether or not you should upgrade now to the new operating system. And, you’ve more than likely had your fill on news on this for the time being. We have, though, received some questions in from users on our Ad-Aware software’s compatibility, so we’d like to take a moment to address this, and let you know that - yes - here at Lavasoft, we’re ready!

Two new rogue applications from the Winiguard family have been released. The people behind these fraud tools constantly change the names of their applications and move them to new servers.

We're back from our annual visit to the U.S. where we had the opportunity to meet with several of the industry's most influential IT editors and journalists. These folks are super busy, so we'd like to send another thanks to the following people who gave us the opportunity to sit and share our enthusiasm about our new Ad-Aware versions, as well as upcoming developments at Lavasoft.

It’s not easy to stay up-to-date on all of the new online threats that scammers are casting out on the Web. Just take a look at our latest ‘industry news’ listings to get an idea of the array of topics buzzing through the security news – in the past few days alone.

Are you, a friend, or a family member planning to make a trip to the United States in the near future? If so, keep these words in mind: ESTA is FREE.

The wait is over: the new version of Ad-Aware is now available!

Who’s behind those avatars that you see on the Lavasoft company blog? Why do we write the way we do, about certain topics? Get to know a few of the members of our staff and management team at Lavasoft, as they each answer the question, “Why do you blog?”

You may have seen the news that broke this week on a phishing scheme that has allowed scammers to harvest credentials from Hotmail accounts, leaking a list of thousands of log-in details online. Now it seems the scope is more widespread, and is involving users of other web-based mail accounts.
